“That was regrettable. It was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the signal was entirely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he remarked. “The action was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
League Precedent for Proprietor Fines
This is not the initial instance an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples involve:
- Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
