Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
